MALFORD GROVE

This characterful Edwardian family home in Redbridge, east London, brought us in to advise on a ground-floor extension. The brief covered three rooms, creating a cohesive flow between the kitchen with breakfast nook, dining area, and family room. It was a vast space that needed to respect the character of the rest of the home.

With a mature, south-facing garden, we designed bespoke arched windows and doors to draw the lush greens into the newly renovated space, making it both contemporary and distinctive. The window nook is the perfect place to cosy or with a good book or simply taking in the views of the garden.

A carefully crafted palette of rich, earthy tones, balanced with creamy soft neutrals, keeps the space warm and inviting. Considered details such as the marble mosaic floor, slatted oak joinery, and repurposed stained glass from the existing utility room add depth and texture. We focused on bespoke joinery for discreet, practical storage, and custom upholstery that brings in pops of personality and joy. Vintage pieces chosen to be treasured for years sit alongside one-off artworks and photography.

The result is playful yet sophisticated, ideal for a family who love hosting friends.
